Bas van de Haterd links technological developments to social trends and translates these into the impact they’ll have on organisations and sectors. He mainly looks at the work that organisations still have to do and the role of people in those organisations.
Technological developments are exponential, meaning that what was thought impossible 10 years ago is now a reality. Organisations have to arm themselves and that isn’t possible when they hold on to the old organisational structures. Individuals must also prepare: the job you do in the first 10 years of your life probably wont exist no more around your retirement.
Big data, sensors, Blockchain, self-driving cars, drones and self-learning algorithms have an impact on every organisation. Add the fact that we know more and more about human behaviour and can even predict it based on linguistic analyses and micro expressions, and it is clear that we are in an era of transition.
However, it is not all doom and gloom. Far from it. A wonderful time is probably coming. A time when old ideals such as self-determination, self-development and taking social responsibility can finally be realised.
